ADN to BSN Concurrent Program Students
The ADN to BSN Concurrent Program student is one who is enrolled in Nursing (ADN)-Associate in Applied Science (AAS) courses at a partnership community college while taking SVSU RN to BSN courses concurrently. Students will complete their Nursing (ADN)-AAS degree while earning BSN credits, allowing them to complete their BSN from SVSU in additional semesters.
Degree Requirements
To complete the degree requirements, an ADN to BSN student must:
- earn a minimum of 25 credits from nursing courses (NURS)
- 124 credits are required for graduation, of which 31 must be from SVSU and must include:
- 32 credits awarded based on articulation criteria, transfer credits, and General Education credits
- an approved statistics course
- 6 upper division credits
- the 25 NURS credits
Basic credits do not count towards the 124 credits for graduation.
Admission Process
Eligibility criteria for application to the program include:
Admission to SVSU
Completed ADN to BSN Concurrent Program application
Admission and good standing in a partnership Nursing (ADN)-AAS program which includes required Anatomy and Physiology
Cumulative GPA of 3. 0 (based on a minimum of 30 credits) from all colleges and universities attended
Completion of the following SVSU General Education Requirements:
- Category 3 (Numerical understanding)
- Category 6 (Social Science Methods)
- Category 7 (Social Institutions)
- Category 9 (Oral Communication)
- Category 10 (Written Communication)
Required SVSU Nursing Courses (25 cr)
One statistics course from the following or an approved course:
(meets the General Education Category 3 requirement)
Additional Requirements
- Two upper division elective courses
- Validated Articulation credits will be awarded for the ADN nursing course work, based upon the articulation agreement, after the Nursing (ADN)-Associates in Applied Science has been earned and RN license in Michigan obtained (32 cr)
- General Education credits (earned at SVSU or Prior institution) (variable cr)
- Any additional transfer credits (up to 61 credits )
- SVSU Communication Intensive (CI!) course requirements must be met
- The 31 credit SVSU residency credit requirement must be met
HESI Examination Requirement
Demonstrate a HESI A2 entrance exam score at the Very Good level or an ATI TEAS at the Advanced level
