For a major in French, 28 credits in French are required in courses numbered 211 or higher. Students whose French proficiency is beyond FREN 211 and FREN 212 will take all their courses at the 300-400 levels; such students will not receive credits for FREN 211 and FREN 212 .
It is strongly recommended that six credit hours be taken abroad in a country where the language of study is spoken. These six credit hours can be taken to fulfill required or elective courses in the major with instructor approval.
Students who successfully complete FREN 111 and FREN 112 or demonstrate proficiency at the FREN 112 level or above, will be eligible for admission to the major.
