ME 453 - Finite Element Analysis Introduction of finite element method as a contemporary tool in engineering and industry. Mathematical modeling and formulation techniques of finite element equations. Solution strategies and applications of finite element method in structural mechanics (trusses, beams, frames), elasticity and scalar fields (fluid flow, torsion, heat transfer, electromagnetic). Hands-on workshop sessions to illustrate various theoretical concepts. Computer and design projects. (3-0)
Prerequisite: MATH 262 or equivalent, ME 353 or instructor permission.
