ME 458 - Computational Fluid Dynamics Introduction to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). The course explores a breadth of fluid and thermal models in one, two and three dimensions including mathematical modeling of fluids and thermal problems including equations of fluid in motion (Navier Stokes equations). Case studies including both steady and unsteady fluid scenarios in engineering will be used to illustrate theoretical concepts. Numerical analysis techniques such as finite difference (FDM) and finite element (FEA) methods will be used for computerized modeling techniques. Interactive workshop sessions include software development using MATLAB and application of commercial tools.
Prerequisite: ME 384 , ME 202 , ME 356 and ME 420 (may be taken concurrently).
Credits: 3 cr
