MATH 132A - Statistical Methods: General Statistics


MATH 132 is offered as MATH 132A - Statistical Methods: General Statistics  or MATH 132B - Statistical Methods: Biostatistics . In this introduction to statistical methodology, students identify methods of acquiring, organizing and analyzing data so as to make decisions and respond to arguments. Topics include graphical representation of data, probability distributions, confidence intervals and hypothesis test, parametric and non-parametric techniques, regression and correlation, and analysis of variance. Applications from many arenas such as business, politics, medicine and health, the social and behavioral sciences, education and environmental science.

Prerequisite: MATH 082  or satisfactory score on the course placement test.

Credits: 4 cr
