The Technical Minor prepares students for internships and jobs in addition to those commonly available in their major fields. Business and government planning and other agencies recruit employees who have strong skills in geographic techniques, coupled with solid content knowledge, analytical abilities, and research experience. The curriculum follows disciplinary guidelines for training employable geography Technical Minors.

Required Core Courses (6 credits)
Regional and Topical Studies (6 credits required)
After completing the six credits in Regional and Topical Studies, Technical Minors will have sufficient conceptual preparation for framing geographic problems and designing strategies to tackle them. Techniques (9 credits required)
The two required geographic techniques course develop the specific skills employers currently seek. In addition, Technical Minors will choose either to acquire advanced skills in Geographic Information Systems or to develop expertise in spatial analysis. Inquiry (3 credits required)
