International Business Major (B.B.A.)

The four-year International Business degree provides students with the skills and knowledge needed to prove themselves in a competitive global marketplace.

Bachelor of Business Administration Requirements (B.B.A.)


Every candidate must earn at least a total of 124 credits, including a minimum of 42 credits at the 300-400 level, complete university Basic Skills  and General Education  requirements, and must satisfy the following:

The following criteria must be successfully completed (not in progress) prior to filing an admission application with the College of Business:

  1. All Basic Skills requirements
  2. MATH 145  - Finite Math (formerly MATH 120B) or MATH 161  - Calculus I
  3. Two of three remaining business cognate courses (see below)
    1. COMM 105A  - Fundamentals of Communication (GE9) 3 cr
    2. CS 150  - Contemporary Business Software 1 cr
    3. RPW 300  - Writing in the Professions 3 cr
  4. Four of five 200-level business core courses (see below)
    1. ACCT 213   - Financial Accounting 4 cr
    2. ACCT 214   - Managerial Accounting 4 cr
    3. ECON 221  - Principles of Macroeconomics (GE7) 4 cr
    4. ECON 222  - Principles of Microeconomics 4 cr
    5. ECON 235  - Introductory Statistics (GE3) 4 cr
  5. Demonstrated competency in writing. Ordinarily, satisfactory evidence of this competency will be demonstrated by successful completion (grade of “C” or better) of ENGL 111  and ENGL 212 . Applicants seeking to waive these courses by examination must contact the Academic Advisement Center.
  6. A minimum 2.25 cumulative grade point average is required for admission.

Language/Study Abroad Requirement (12 cr)


Approved combination of non-English language and study abroad, or 12 credits in a single modern foreign language (This is a minimal requirement. For students desiring a higher level of proficiency in a foreign language, additional foreign language study is recommended. This requirement may be altered or waived for international students or native speakers of languages other than English. In this circumstance, related study abroad is usually required.)

Major Electives (12 cr)


Students must complete 12 credits in 300-400 level international business courses from the following list. When combined, the electives and major required courses must be drawn from at least four disciplines from the following: accounting, economics, management, marketing, law, finance, or sociology. Special Topics courses must be pre-approved by the chair of the department of Management/Marketing.
