Program Objective:

To enhance the student’s awareness of human needs and services relevant to individuals with substance use disorders (SUD).

Mission Statement:

The mission of the Behavioral Health-Substance Use Disorder minor is to build students’ awareness of human needs and services relevant to individuals with substance use disorders. The course work and required practicum placement prepare the student for careers in public and non-profit social service agencies such as substance use treatment facilities and clinics, inpatient and outpatient care facilities, individual and family services, and more. Courses are designed to address the learning domains required to pursue certification for professionals engaging in the prevention of alcohol, tobacco, and other drug problems and the assessment and treatment of addictions. Students will study theory and practice, addressing aspects of effective service delivery such as prevention, community education, assessment, treatment, program management, evaluation, and rehabilitation.

This minor is offered entirely online with both synchronous and asynchronous coursework.
