The purpose of this minor is to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes to improve personal and community fitness through exercise.
Students will expand their knowledge of exercise guidelines, exercise programming, and community engagement through a group of core courses [15 cr.]. Additionally, students will complete classes that emphasize activity and movement through the elective block [3 cr.]. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) stated, in conjunction with the American Medical Association, Surgeon General’s Reports, American Heart Association, and Center for Disease Control and Prevention that, “…physical activity is one of the most important things Americans can do to improve their health.” This minor will provide a foundation for a lifetime of exercise and activity, and the skills to encourage exercise in the community.
This minor is closed to KINE majors.
