The minor in User Experience Design (UXD) builds knowledge in usability studies, experience design, information architecture, and the development of complex documents. The program offers students a credential that complements any design major (e.g., engineering, computer science, graphic design) or human/user/client centered major (e.g., marketing, psychology, communication), whether the outcome is documents, web sites, apps, software, research, or devices. Students engage in examining and applying problem solving strategies with particular emphasis on how audiences experience designs in a variety of contexts. Students create and test complex information projects (e.g., web sites, knowledge bases, interactive videos) that integrate text, sound, and static and dynamic images, and are research-driven, human-centered, usable, and ADA compliant.
