The Public Health degree is designed to provide students with an understanding of public health principles and practices. The degree includes two study tracks in Health Promotion and Health Administration. Fieldwork provides students with an opportunity to gain experience in public health practice that will prepare them for future employment and/or graduate school.
The Public Health degree has two options: the traditional BS degree and the combined BS/MPH degree. The BS/MPH program is created for undergraduate Public Health Students with an interest in pursuing an MPH degree. The combined program allows students to earn a BS in Public health and an MPH degree. Students admitted into the combined degree program will count 12 credits of graduate credits towards their undergraduate degree requirements. Please see https://www.svsu.edu/publichealth/publichealthcombinedbsmph/ for more information about the combined BS/MPH degree.
The BS and MPH degrees are independent. Each degree will be awarded when the requirements are completed. The BS degree must be completed before the MPH degree is awarded.
Requirements for the combined Public Health BS/MPH program include:
- A current Public Health undergraduate major
- Completion of at least 24 credits in the undergraduate Public Health major
