Chemistry Minor for Teacher Certification

The chemistry minor is available to students desiring to teach at the middle (grades 5 to 9) or high school level (grades 7 to 12). It requires a double major with one of the education majors described in the College of Education section and a major in an approved subject matter for teachers. In addition, you may select a chemistry minor.

Program Requirements

An approved teacher education major is required.

The certification requires the following chemistry and cognate courses:

CHEM 111 - General Chemistry I Lecture (GE4) 4 cr
CHEM 111L - General Chemistry I Lab (GE4) 1 cr
CHEM 112 - General Chemistry II Lecture 4 cr
CHEM 112L - General Chemistry II Lab 1 cr
CHEM 230 - Organic Chemistry I Lecture 4 cr
CHEM 231 - Organic Chemistry I Lab 1 cr
CHEM 412 - Biochemistry I 3 cr
CHEM 413 - Biochemistry Laboratory 1 cr
CHEM 499 - Undergrad Seminar in Chemistry 1 cr
