Visual Arts Education (B.A.)

The Visual Arts Education major is designed for students who desire to teach visual arts in the public schools. No minor is required. Sixty-three (63) credits are required from the Department of Art. You are also required to complete the courses from the College of Education for the certification requirement. This major introduces a student to the basic fundamental knowledge of different mediums in visual Arts and Art history, and then to concentrate on one medium of the student’s choice. Students will also apply the skills and information learned in studio/history courses to teaching by enrolling in the art methods and field study courses. Specific requirements for certification are listed under Teacher Education Secondary: Grades K to 12 .

Students must apply and be accepted to the College of Education.

The Visual Arts Education BA requires a double major with the education major described in the College of Education section.
