History Minor for Teacher Certification

The History minor is available to students desiring to teach at the middle (grades 5 to 9) or high school level (grades 7 to 12). It requires a double major with one of the education majors described in the College of Education section and a major in an approved subject matter for teachers.  In addition, you may select a history minor.   

Teacher Education Secondary: Grades 5 to 12  

NOTE: The Michigan Department of Education now requires a geography course for certification in history. SVSU has received approval for a revised History Minor for Teacher Certification requiring GEOG 201  in the minor. Students will be required to take GEOG 201  to be certified.
