Chemistry Minor for Teacher Certification

Program Requirements

An approved major is required as well as completion of the professional development courses  (refer to the College of Education  section of this catalog).

Required Minor Courses (20 cr)

The certification requires the following chemistry and cognate courses:

• CHEM 111 - General Chemistry I Lecture (GE4) 4 cr
• CHEM 111L - General Chemistry I Lab (GE4) 1 cr
• CHEM 112 - General Chemistry II Lecture 4 cr
• CHEM 112L - General Chemistry II Lab 1 cr
• CHEM 230 - Organic Chemistry I Lecture 4 cr
• CHEM 231 - Organic Chemistry I Lab 1 cr
• CHEM 412 - Biochemistry I 3 cr
• CHEM 413 - Biochemistry Laboratory 1 cr
• CHEM 499 - Undergrad Seminar in Chemistry 1 cr

Required Science Methods Courses (4 cr)

• TEMS 311 - Teaching Science in Mid/Sec Schools 3 cr
