Return to: Programs by Type
Actuarial Science is a professional, interdisciplinary field requiring a strong math background. While no specific major is required to be an actuary, interested students should pursue a well-rounded education and develop skills in mathematics, finance, and economics. A minor in Actuarial Science consists of 4 required core courses plus a choice of 2 electives. The core will prepare students for the first professional actuarial exam (SOA Exam P). Interested students should contact the Department of Mathematical Sciences for advising on how to pursue an actuarial career.
