21 credits (15 required, 6 elective)

The Writing for Public Purposes (WPP) minor prepares students to do the kinds of writing practiced in health organizations, community organizations, government and nongovernmental organizations, and nonprofit and charitable organizations. While the WPP minor is a great complement for any major, it especially is valuable for those preparing for health professions, technical professions, and professions in the social sciences. Focusing on evidence-based practice, practical problem solving, and research-based writing, the WPP minor will help students to write effectively for a wide range of public audiences, purposes, and contexts. Students in the WPP minor will learn to write effective proposals, instructions, reports, media content, and professional documents in other relevant genres. They also will examine applicable legal and ethical contexts.
