Early Childhood Education Major

A major of 30 credits will lead to a State of Michigan Early Childhood Endorsement which is often referred to as the “ZS Endorsement.” Teachers who successfully complete the
required coursework and pass the MTTC test for this endorsement are considered highly qualified for early childhood, general and special education. A student who does not complete teacher certification requirements will not be permitted to graduate with this major.

The program is planned in cohorts of 25 students. Initial admission will be based on date of admission to the and class standing. Requirements for this program are completed in addition to all of the requirements for the except: TE 316A , TE 316B , TE 430 , and TE 432 . The requirements for these courses will be met in the coursework and field experiences within the Early Childhood Program.
