French Minor for Teacher Certification

The French minor for teacher certification requires completion of the 20 credit hours described below and completion of professional development courses in Modern Foreign Languages and in the College of Education (see College of Education section of the catalog).
It is strongly recommended that a minimum of 6 credit hours be taken abroad in a country where the language of study is spoken. These 6 credit hours can be taken to fulfill required or elective courses in the major with instructor approval.
All foreign language majors or minors who are candidates for teacher certification at any level must also pass the Oral Proficiency Interview (OPI) with a minimum rating of Advanced Low.

Additional credits in FREN courses numbered 300 or greater to total a minimum of 20 credits, and to include at least one course numbered 400 or greater.
