Secondary Requirements

I. Admission
1. Bachelor’s degree or higher from a regionally accredited institution
2. Minimum 3.0 grade point average (based on 4.00 scale) for students completing degrees in the past four years.
3. Passing scores on the Michigan Test for Teacher Certification (MTTC) Professional Readiness Examination or Michigan Department of Education-approved alternative pass measures

II. Secondary Program
A College of Education advisor will meet with candidates to help determine possible content areas. Candidates must pass the MTTC content area test to be certified to teach in that content area.
III. Secondary Courses
The College of Education creates the schedule of ARC courses offered each semester to ensure that accelerated certification candidates can complete the required course work in one year. Candidates do not create their own schedules.
