Foundations (6 credits; must be taken within the first 15 credits and prior to the Capstone)
Classroom Teaching Core (9 credits. Select one course from each category)
1. Technology (3 credits)
2. Teaching Diverse Populations (3 credits)
3. Curriculum (3 credits)
Cognate (15 credits. Select one course from each content area.)
2. Mathematics (3 credits)
4. Social Studies (3 credits)
5. Literature/Language Arts (3 credits)
Capstone (6 credits. Must be taken within the last 9 credits of the program)
Elementary Level Endorsement
Teachers certified at the secondary level have the option to earn an Elementary level endorsement which will enable them to teach all subjects K-5, in approved major and minor areas of preparation in grades 6-8, and all subject in grades 6-8 in a self-contained classroom where the majority of the instruction is provided by one teacher. Interested candidates must schedule an appointment with a certification advisor in the College of Education to review course work and state testing requirements for the endorsement and discuss how this program will develop into the Master of Arts in Teaching degree. |
