YS 318 - Issues in Sexuality for Youth & Families This course will examine sexuality from the interpersonal as well as the broader cultural and political context. Students will gain a better understanding of how their sexual intelligence and bias were created and how to lessen them with clients. This course will take a psychosocial approach, reflecting the view that psychological factors and social conditioning have a crucial impact on sexual attitudes, values and behaviors. This approach will allow the student to better understand their personal bias and conditioning and provide for a better understanding of the issues social workers face with their clients. Controversial sexual issues will be discussed using the social work code of ethics and current research as our guide.
