HS 342 - Accreditation and Health Law


This course will introduce health care accreditation concepts, requirements and processes including the Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation and Joint Commission Standards. This course will also address the legal issues facing the healthcare industry. It provides students with knowledge of health law, law creation, federal and state regulations, legal release of information, subpoenas, court orders and criminal and civil liabilities for healthcare providers. It will explore various legal entities and forms of healthcare corporations. Public health structure and governance will be discussed.

Requisites: HS 250  (Required, Previous).
