ME 471 - Metalcasting An in-depth study of the metalcasting process. Topics covered are casting design, gating and riser design, testing of mold materials, solidification, casting alloy metallurgy and rapid tooling techniques. Two design projects are conducted in the course. These projects furnish experience in designing gating systems, producing patterns and pouring castings. The course has a laboratory to provide students with hands-on experience. (2-3)
Requisites: ME 380, ME 356. Mechanical Engineering Major (Required, Previous).
