Physics Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs)

SLO 1: Students will demonstrate the ability to use symbolic math and physics theories to create or use models that describe physical systems or solve problems related to the behavior of physical systems.

SLO 2: Students will demonstrate the ability to create or use computational resources to model physical systems or solve problems related to the behavior of physical systems.

SLO 3: Students will demonstrate the ability to perform or design experiments to test physical theory and/or make measurements relevant to physical theory, including the ability to analyze the data and interpret the results.

SLO 4: Students will demonstrate acquisition of the core knowledge of physics principles, theories, models, experiments, concepts and history appropriate to an undergraduate graduate in physics.

SLO 5: Students will demonstrate the ability to communicate physics ideas in writing.

SLO 6: Students will demonstrate the ability to present physics ideas orally, in small group discussions or in formal presentation situations.

SLO 7: Students will demonstrate critical thinking as evidenced in the ability to solve open-ended, imprecisely presented problems in physics.

SLO 8: Students will demonstrate the ability to learn deep, specialized knowledge within a narrow area of focus.
