University Graduate Program Policies

Minimum Standards

1. All students must have a minimum GPA of 3. 0 to be fully admitted to a graduate program.
2. International students whose native language is not English must have a TOEFL-IBT score of at least 79 (IELTS 6. 5) in order to be admitted to a graduate program. Consideration for exemption from this policy may be considered for students whose degree has been earned at a university where instruction for the degree was taught in English or upon recommendation by the graduate coordinator for specialized programs, like Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language, which have language requirements in addition to English. In the case of such specialized programs, students must present English language scores that are at least equivalent to those required for undergraduate admission. Some graduate programs may require a higher level of language proficiency for admission to the program.
3. A student must maintain a minimum cummulative grade-point average (GPA) of 3. 0 (B) on a 4. 0 scale to be in good standing with the university.
4. Students who fail to maintain minimum academic standards set by the graduate program in which they are enrolled, are subject to dismissal from that program.
