ECE 394 - Energy Storage Systems
Basic electrochemical thermodynamics and kinetics with emphasis on electrochemical techniques, Fundamental principle and performance of batteries, super capacitors and fuel cells. Electrochemistry of battery; commercial rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries; batteries under development and potential applications to hybrid -electric vehicles and alternative energy systems; Battery Management System (BMS); electrochemistry of super capacitor; difference between batteries and super capacitors; modern super capacitors and applications; electrochemistry of fuel cells; types of fuel cells; applications of fuel cells; fly wheels and application of fly wheels. Prerequisite: CHEM 111, PHYS 212, or permission of instructor.
Corequisite: ECE 394L.
